Adrian Wu is possibly one of the quickest and youngest designers to move up the North American design scene in decades. Self- taught, Wu launched his career at age 18 on the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week. He went on to gain acceptance into Instituto Marangoni but deferred the opportunity and started his own fashion design business late 2010. Since then Wu was featured in a book called Style Diaries, published by Prestel (Random House) and sold internationally. Wu has also worked on such collaborations with Allan Candy, Studio N-1, Steven Lewis Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, TOMS, Cashmere, National Ballet of Canada, award-winning author Margaret Atwood, and soon Freed Development on Fashion House a new condo being built downtown Toronto. Adrian has been covered by nearly every news publication, magazine, and television station in Canada including Gawker.com, Frame Magazine, and The New York Observer. He has already had two museums carry his work. (Design Exchange and The Textile Museum of Canada) Wu is also signed with Perrier as an Official Influencer and Luminary of 2012. He has been been designing for two years, he has produced over 15 collections. At age 22 now, Wu’s journey so far has taught him he has a specialty for creative marketing and corporate collaboration.

DCU Fashion Show 2010 'The Edge of Industry'
This edgy, student run extravaganza showcases an original and theatrical take on fashion. It explores fashion through an industrial and gothic view. The show, run by DCU Style Society, features the 'Young Designer' competition, where Irish student fashion designers battle it out on stage with their original costumes to claim the coveted title of DCU Young Designer of the Year.

My friend Anna organized this American Gothique fashion show at Mad Myrna's in Anchorage, Alaska in early May 2009. She described it as Techno Gothic and invited me to photograph it. I did so with some trepidation since I had no idea what I was getting myself into - but it was a blast. From what I can tell, Techno Gothic equates to Gothic with loud colors and attachments such as gas masks. I learn something new every day!

2009 UMM Fashion Trashion show (top tier) IMG_6637

From the first annual Fashion Trashion show put on by the Studio Art program at University of Minnesota, Morris. The students in the beginning art classes designed and constructed outfits out of trash and recycled materials, and then put on a full runway show with judges, jokes, and way too much fun. They had an enormous SRO turnout - far larger than anyone expected. It was a great end to the day of the Undergraduate Research Symposium day - a wonderful dessert at the end of a rich and varied meal.
Jess Larson asked me to take photos at the event, and in the end I took well over 1,000 photos. I've sifted out the obviously broken ones, and then divided what's left into two groups: the "top tier" (the ones that I thought were better for some mysterious reason; this set) and "the rest".
UMM folks should feel free to use these however they see fit. It would be nice to know when they're being used, however. Thanks.
Thanks to everyone involved for putting on a really tremendous show!
